We are saying goodbye!

Streetbank has closed on 1st March. We are so grateful to everyone who has made the community such a special place.

When we launched in May 2010, we had a hope and belief that neighbours are trustworthy, kind and generous - we could not have dreamed just how much, having seen countless acts of generosity spark more acts of kindness. In fact, over the life of the project, we estimate:

36,000 meetings between generous neighbours took place
£1.2m worth of preloved goods were shared
445,000 kilos of useful things were diverted from landfill

Since we launched there have been many other similar services launched that have proven to be more viral, more able to reach a critical mass in more neighbourhoods.

These busier services have meant that our community stopped growing several years ago and doesn't justify continuing.

So two things. First, thank you for making Streetbank an amazing community. We heard so many stories that put our faith in humanity. Second, we salute these other services and hope that you will use them and embue them with the same goodness your brought to Streetbank!
